From 1985 the farm school CAN PAU has been planning summer stays
with the aims of to develop the habits of living together and
to introduce the children and the youngster to the life in the
country, and to discover the nature and the way we can respect
and have fun with it.
Actually the summer stays take part in the months of July
and consist of two shifts of thirteen days.
ORGANISATION:
- In the same shift there are children from 6 to 14 years, and
we divide them in groups depending on the age, with a maximum
of 10 people for each group.
- Each group has a monitor- responsible during the 24 hours
of the day. The task of the monitor is reinforced with specialized
staff for doing specific tasks ( horse riding teacher, a guide
for the excursions , a farmer , etc...)
- Globally the task of the monitor is always supervised and
directed by a general coordinator.
CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES:
The activities during the stay are:
- NORMAL DAY: All the activities take place in the farm
school or the surrounding area: farm Workshops, making a vegetable
garden, making food goods (cakes, tinned goods, bread, spaguettis...),
wood workshops, wool workshops, soap, natural cosmetics, and
other workshops.
- HORSE RIDING: It takes place every day, except
on the days spent on the beach, and on the arrival and departure
day.
- SPORTS DAY: A whole day sports journey, that takes
place in a friendly way more than a competitive one. All the
people in Can Pau takes part in that event.
- DISCOVERING THE COUNTRY SIDE: We make visits on foot
to the nearest villages and one day is spent to visit the country
on bicycle. Each child has to bring his/her own bicycle . The
trips allways follow rural tracks. We include discovering the
country at night sleeping in the open air to promote the friendliness
of the forest.
- GAMES AND SOIRÉES: Each night we prepare some games
and soirées that take place after dinner. A group of reporters
inform us about the whole day news at Can Pau.
- PARTY- FAIR: It pretends to be an approach to the market
where the children sell and expose ( in fiction ) the products
and the hand made things that they have learn to do during their
stay , we use the "PAUING" , which is the official coin in Can
Pau.
